Varya's eyes widened and Ebari's jaw became tense at the mention of Kruos.
The talks throughout the day had been devoid of the previous emperor. There was no room for him in the conversations because they only discussed going forward and not backward.
Varya grabbed Ebari's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
Basileus's eyebrow raised at this but he kept quiet, waiting for a response.
"Advisors, you are dismissed," Varya finally said. "We don't need to record this meeting."
They looked at her suspiciously but they couldn't go against her word.
However, she didn't notice an advisor who was always particularly suspicious of her, leaving behind a recording device in one of the chairs. Though he was smart enough to put it in another chair instead of the one he was sitting in so suspicion would be put on them first.
All of the advisors bowed and went their separate ways.
