Basileus wanted to hold Varya for the duration of the trip back down to Planet V's surface, but he also didn't want his son to be in a bed all alone in case he woke up.
He had noticed his son seemed awfully cold due to using so much of his aura so he played the boy in Varya's arms and covered them with a few blankets. Even with this precaution, through the journey, he still occasionally walked to the back of the small ship to put a shaky hand on his son's forehead and make sure he was actually getting warmer.
As he looked down a the boy, he felt so proud. His heart ached with how proud he was.
He was dying to know what happened. There was no doubt in his mind that the child had saved Varya.
Basileus wished it could have been him but, at the very least, it was an extension of himself who saved her. It was the aura, his aura, that was in Basil's body. He had certainly inherited his father's lack of control when it came to Varya.
