Galen smelled smoke and he wasn't sure why.
Perhaps it was the gift of his keen Basilian senses that he was able to smell it at all. Others didn't seem to pay any mind to the sudden smell of smoke that filled his nostrils and drove him to concern.
He became on edge.
Even if he hadn't worked in a while, he was still a guard above anything else. His eyes scanned the room and he silently wondered where it was coming from.
He wanted to write it off as a minor accident in the kitchen but he felt he could differentiate between the smell of burnt food and whatever he was smelling.
He jumped when he felt a hand go on his shoulder and the smell of smoke became stronger.
"You should check on Ebari," the prince said. "I think it's important you go to him quickly."
The way he was already feeling made that comment seem all the more severe and he suddenly stood up.
