Basileus Jr. was a week old.
At this point he had hardly been able to spend time in the arms of his mother.
After Varya's surgery to take away the dead tissue and skin, there were more surgeries to put in a lab created skin that would combine with her cells and heal the area much quicker than if they let it heal by itself. The surgery was successful, but she could hardly move without being in unbelievable pain.
When they finally adjusted her pain medicine and found one that seemed to work well for her, the nurses offered to help her hold her baby, making sure to stand by in case the pain meds were making her too dizzy.
Varya lay back in her hospital bed with her baby finally in her arms. A satisfied smile remained on her face while she admired the beautiful baby in her arms. He looked like Basileus with lighter hair and pale skin. His orange eyes were just as vivid as his father's though.
However, Basileus Jr. started fussing and Varya felt her heart rate instantly spike.
