"I don't believe you will like the answer to that question," Kane said to Christopher.
"Why not?"
"That mark you described was used to identify items or property owned by the French Kings. That would also have included people and animals." Lord Alexsander explained. His expression was stark.
"You mean there was a possibility that Rose was a slave?"
Kane nodded in reply. "Yes"
Rose could hear Christopher's voice and headed for the dining room. She was stopped by the words she heard as she approached the room.
"The marks all over her body are unbearable… It's horrendous…" Chris paused, running his fingers through his hair, and Kane saw he was greatly distressed at seeing the damage to Rose's body.
