The darkness of night passed peacefully into the dawning light of morning, and Rose experienced no more nightmares. Christopher was up and working at the table next to the bedroom window. He cracked it to allow the fresh, cool morning air to enter the room. The sounds of wildlife and birds chirping roused Rose out of her slumber.
She rolled over and watched as Chris penned a letter and placed it in an envelope. He sealed it as he pressed his signet into the heated wax. When he looked over at the bed, he was greeted by a pair of bright, shining amber-hued eyes rimmed with lashes that rivaled a butterfly's wings.
Rose smiled at him mischievously, and he blushed in response. He placed the letter in his coat pocket hung on the back of the door. Chris walked over to the bed, sat beside her, and wrapped his arms around her. They embraced passionately.
"Good morning, Love. You look better. How are you feeling?" he asked.
