Thunder grew louder outside the walls of Northbrook Castle. The air inside the bedroom was stifling. It had become heavily ladened with moisture from the oncoming storm. Christopher could feel his shirt sticky with sweat, and he smelt the grime from the trip. Right now, he thought that a good cigar and a nice bottle of scotch were in order since the visit to Shadestone had been canceled.
The Lord sat on the cedar chest while Dante, possessing Rose's body, knelt before him, removing his riding boots. Christopher had an unscrupulous look on his face. It was because Dante was oblivious to what he and Kane knew was happening.
"Have you started my bath?" he asked Rose curtly.
Startled and agitated by the question, Dante, through Rose's narrowed eyes and scrunched-up brows, gave an exasperated glare to Lord Thorn.
"Do it your damned self!" she answered.
