The smoke from Christopher's cigar wound and curled upward into the ceiling above him. After his dinner discussion with Magnus, he did his best to relax and decompress. He tipped his head back to finish the last of the scotch from the glass. The Lord took another drag from his cigar and blew the smoke from his lips, watching it dissipate into the air. He then crushed the cigar into the ashtray.
Looking out the study window, he waited patiently for word from Lord Alexsander. Christopher picked up a small box on his desk with a card from Jerome Bennett. He placed it in his pocket. It was a gift he had Mr. Bennett create this morning for Rose while he was in London.
Kane had discussed his plans with Christopher the day before Rose's visit to his castle. She would stay for an extended time. Kane explained he wanted to give her a respite from her father. This would be Christopher's best opportunity to re-establish contact with Rose.
