The woman waited, holding her breath as if she was afraid someone would catch her partner because of how harshly she was breathing before.
A minute passed before she finally heard his voice again.
"It was nothing. I thought someone was around."
She gulped, finally able to breathe again. Yet she was not relieved.
"And Elena? Devon?"
"We are lucky that they both are safe. I am sure Devon was not in a danger this time. The last attack on him was when he was on his way to Swindon for the first time.
We both were there to witness how Ortiz saved him. There hasn't been another attack or even such attempt on his life after that.
But this one on Elena? It came out of the blue!" He rubbed his forehead, annoyed and relieved at the same time.
The woman finally slumped down on the bed, relieved to hear that Elena was safe.
"What else do you expect when you mess with Victor Sanders?" She didn't mask her bitterness as she said that.
