"You stepped in the kitchen?"
The way Mr Bell looked horrified at the idea of their daughter stepping into the kitchen, I understood from it that I should never let that happen if I wanted to live a happily married life with Elena.
I made a mental note to never allow Elena to use the kitchen, even for boiling the water.
I would have enjoyed him scolding her more if she wasn't my fiancee. As her husband-to-be, I should defend her, so I interjected in between Mr Bell's lecture.
"Mr Bell"
He stopped abruptly before shifting his gaze toward me.
"Please don't scold Elena any more. She was actually hesitant to use the kitchen because you have never allowed it. But she was hungry, and I advised her to cook some rice for herself.
I was giving her instructions on the phone. I think I am not a very good instructor because I forgot to tell her to switch off the gas after three whistles of the pressure cooker.
