The rest of the dinner passed by with some more nasty comments from my mother-in-law and uncle Joseph devouring his favourite dessert.
After that, everyone shifted into the living room, but nobody initiated a thought of roaming our home, nor Devon suggested that. I noticed his eyes darting to his studio a few times as if he was afraid of his family finding out the other world behind those locked doors.
It made me sad that he couldn't share something he cherished with all his heart. He was such a gifted painter that he could have easily bagged dozens of awards and eternal fame for his art.
And yet he was stuck behind a business suit and laptop with an empire to take care of when that very empire was not ready to accept him.
During this dinner, I realised that there were still many things about my husband that I didn't know yet. Devon Sanders was not only mysterious by his aura but also with his life.
