Ortiz was listening to something funny Joanna remembered from her childhood before he burst out laughing. After years of loneliness, his house felt alive with the guests- Mr Bell and Joanna.
Ortiz felt like he had found another family for himself in them. He was enjoying his time with them, and the fact that they were leaving back for Swindon the next day made him saddened.
But after living all his life with toughness and facing so many hardships, his heart had become tougher than anyone would guess.
His phone rang, and he pulled it out to see a recognisable number.
"Excuse me everyone. This one is important." He excused himself before getting up from the couch.
He walked out of the large sliding doors to step out on a patio that led to the garden around his house. It was an evening, and the air was pleasant out there, bringing the sweet fragrance of flowers and other trees that he had in his immaculately groomed garden.
He received the call and heard a man's voice.
