Devon and I sat with my phone in front of us, and Christine, Jimmy and Joanna stared back at us in tense silence. After that call from the kidnapper, it took us an hour to calm Victor and made sure that he slept.
Fredrick offered to stay out of Victor's room to keep a watch on him so he wouldn't decide to go in search of his wife in the middle of the night.
We had no idea what we should do, so Devon suggested calling our friends to take their suggestions.
"This is outrageous, Devon!" Jimmy said, barely holding back his anger. But I didn't miss the sliver of underlying fear in his voice.
Devon was still yet to accept Jimmy for Christine, but that conversation he and Christine shared had changed things significantly and for the better.
"I am actually amazed to see you so calm and composed, boss! It's very unlikely of you." Christine spoke, sitting in her bed in a tank top and shorts, which kept Jimmy distracted for a couple of seconds at the beginning of the video call.
