ELENA
After a few minutes, Officer Williams took his leave. The silence was filled with tension, frustration and fear. It was too much for everyone. It was clear on their faces.
The only person who was still calm and composed in that situation was obviously Mr Ortiz. I caught him eyeing Christine and Jimmy, giving them meaningful looks which I didn't understand.
"What's that about?"
He remained silent, but Christine panicked. "What?"
"That! You guys are having this secret conversaion between you. Are you trying to hide anything?" I asked, leaning forward. My eyes were narrowed in suspicion.
"Elena, cut them some slacks please. You get too persistent sometimes."
I tsked, glaring at Dad. "No, I don't!"
"Yes, you do!" Devon, Joanna and Jimmy said in unison.
"Are you all trying to get on my nerves right now?" Irritation was clear in my voice.
"Calm down, Elena." Madison tried with her motherly tone, but that didn't stop me from demanding.
