I had done zero preparations on how I was going to propose to Elena. I thought I would just walk over to her and tell her to marry me.
But the moment I reached the stage and saw her closely, the words spurted out from my mouth on their own.
Instead of thinking and rearranging them, I had to hold myself back from saying too much. I kept reminding myself of the purpose of that proposal. I wasn't proposing to her out of love but just to make her indebted to me, to take all her controls in my hand and to keep her close to me.
The whole time she was tensed beside me. I was glad that she didn't create a scene and agreed easily.
But the sweetest part of the cake was Mason's face. I saw my parents walking out angrily, followed by aunt Julianne who looked more torn between her brother and nephew than angry.
But mason stood there glaring at me murderously. I was enjoying the burn he felt. He just hadn't imagined that I would come up with such a plan even in his wildest dreams.
