Chapter 2 - Broken Vow (2)

Arren walked painfully slowly, like a zombie. His legs began to shake with each step he took. Despite his hazy state, he managed to contact the driver and get into his position because he could collapse at any moment. His hands shook, and his body was excruciatingly hot. He thought he was starting to have hallucinations. He was aware that the smell of his heat would be revealed sooner or later. Fortunately, his position was hidden, and there were only a few people outside, most of whom were betas.

Arren stood there as inconspicuously as possible, his head lowered and his body slightly trembling. He bit his lower lip and force himself not to wallow even more in his pathetic state. Still, the hazy state and the pain he was experiencing were slowly eroding his rationality.

Ever since he was reborn, Arren never saw himself in a disadvantageous and difficult situation. His father adored and spoiled him, and he could do whatever he pleased. He had the status, the looks, and the superior gender that Arren had grown accustomed to being at the top of the food chain. That doesn't mean he wasn't cautious at all times; he was. There was something about him that, despite everything, kept him rational and grounded.

The reason? Simple. This was his second life. It wasn't the most shocking fact yet, this world was a novel. Yes, he had been living his life in a book world. What about his role? Well, He was just an extra, a nameless one without even a role. Not cannon fodder, a supporting character, or even a minor villain. In the original novel, he was merely a nameless character with no existence. At all.

Arren, on the other hand, never complained or harbored any resentment. Arren, to be honest, was relieved that he didn't have a part. It simply meant that he would be able to live his life freely and happily. The storyline? That didn't matter to him at all. He wouldn't get involved and be swept into the storm as long as he didn't interfere or get in the way of the main characters.

Arren recalled his previous life when he was eleven years old. He was initially perplexed and thought it was all a dream, but he soon accepted everything. This was his new life, and his circumstances were far better than they had been before. In his previous life, he had heart disease and was frequently hospitalized.

While he had some regrets about his previous life's parents, he eventually felt relieved for them. He had stolen their lives and time, and their debts had accumulated due to his hospital bills.

So he thought it was okay to leave them early so that his parents could move on and live their own lives, possibly with a new healthy baby. He already liked this world. In this world, he also had his loving father.

Until he saw the name of the current emperor, at which point he realized he was living in a novel he had previously read in the hospital when he was bored. It was an omegaverse novel. While it was a romance and drama novel, it wasn't a typical omegaverse novel either. It was about vengeance and conspiracy, with a dash of romance thrown in for good measure.

Overall, he enjoyed it because he finished it all before his death. But, for some reason, when Arren remembered the book, he only remembered the beginning and some of the middle, but the ending was hazy. He remembered a glimpse of it, but it was a hazy memory no matter how he remembered it, so he gave up.

Spade Remmington.

Arren nearly choked from surprise when he saw that name on television, as a memory from his past life resurfaced. This name had left an impression on him. In fact, he was very familiar with this name. Aside from the protagonist alpha, Spade had the most fans among the readers, according to the website comments. He was not the male lead's rival, but rather an ally and supporter of the protagonists in the dark.

Spade was an Emperor, after all. Some things were inconvenient for him to do personally, so he assisted the protagonists in their investigation without revealing himself. He was a crucial character and a very important one at that. Without him, the protagonists would never have had the opportunity to delve deeply into their investigation before being exposed.

That was why female fans adored him whenever he appeared or was even mentioned. His mysteriousness, and the fact that he was an Emperor and a superior Alpha leave a lot of room for imagination and fantasy.

Arren quickly calmed down and sorted through everything he remembered or had an impression of. Then he made a lot of preparations and plans, one of which was to not interfere in the plot, which was at the top of his list. He wasn't a busybody, and all he wanted was to live a happy and peaceful life; there was no way he'd complicate things by interfering with the plot.

The first thing he did was change schools; he was attending a school for high-class nobility, a school where only those of certain status or nobles were eligible to study. As incredible as it may sound, the protagonist Omega was also a student there.

While their statuses were too far apart for them to really interact, Arren begged his father to transfer him to another school just to be safe. He didn't want to meet them at all. Better to nip everything from the bud this early on.

From then on, he avoided the upper nobility's inner circle at all costs. As a result, he had a lot of "friends" who were of lower nobility or slightly lower than his status. When he attended a royal or official banquet, he became known in the inner circle as someone as rare as a blue moon. It couldn't be avoided; he had vowed when he was eleven years old that he would never interfere with the plot and would stick to his role as the best extra ever.

The car's horn interrupted his thoughts; it arrived and parked in front of him. Arren didn't bother to confirm whether or not this was his car, most likely because he wasn't in his rational self and was now extremely desperate. He assumed it was his car because it was parked in front of him.

Arren was not in his right mind to hesitate, to be honest. He climbed up and climbed into the car.

Arren was on the verge of losing consciousness, but he managed to hang on. He knew that being unconscious meant allowing the heat to control him and succumbing to his desires. Despite his current pain, he didn't want to become like that.

Arren's vision was blurry at this point, so he didn't notice that when he got into the car, the person in the driver's seat froze for a moment and observe Arren through the rearview mirror.

A dangerous glint flashed across those stunning amber eyes. The driver rolled down his window and gave an unknown signal to whoever was outside.

Wait for my command.

He didn't need to speak to convey his orders unless absolutely necessary; hand signals would suffice in this case. A complete stranger dared to enter his car. While he had some suspicions, they were unfounded when he gave them careful thought. His affair tonight was private, and no one knew why he only brought two bodyguards with him except his trusted subordinates.

It was especially difficult for him to go out and avoid the prying eyes of a large number of people because of his unique identity. Any moves he made would undoubtedly cause a stir, and going incognito was done solely to avoid speculation. He didn't need anyone's permission to do what he wanted; it was just a minor inconvenience.

He had some doubts so he would watch, for now, to find out the motives of this omega. The lights were dimmed inside the car, and their location was not visible to everyone, which was one of the reasons he wanted to park there. He didn't expect, however, for someone to enter his car before he even got out.

While it was dark and he couldn't see the omega's face completely, his amazing and delicate features couldn't be hidden. He was without doubt an omega. The blue hair draws attention to the beautifully chiseled face.

Considering how many omegas and betas were presented to him, he had to admit that the omega was the most beautiful he'd ever seen. He had the qualifications to say that he'd seen a lot of what you can call beautiful, but even with all that, the omega that brazenly entered his car was incomparable to them all.

Spade's brows furrowed, and his eyes narrowed. Through the rearview mirror, his gaze was drawn to the omega. The hands on the steering wheel had hardened in some way. He couldn't help but sniff and smell the sweet scent in the air.

The pheromone that was emitting from the omega was particularly aggressive but soft at the same time. His amber pupils contracted and gave off a sharp light. He gripped the steering wheel tighter, and veins appeared in his arms as he suppressed the desire that had begun to affect him after smelling that inviting sweet scent.

With Spade's identity, there were a lot of omegas and even betas that were sent to him by those nobles with their motives, sometimes these people were in heat. His mother was also doing the same thing behind his back. He had already learned how to suppress his desires a long time ago. While not completely immune to the smell of omegas in heat, Spade could keep himself in check. His willpower was incomparably strong as a superior Alpha, and their little tricks never bore fruit until now.

He had been on the throne for nearly 12 years, having inherited the title from his father when he was twenty-two years old. Spade was already extremely experienced and had a firm grasp on power. His position had been solidified for a long time, and the empire's rule was completely under his control.

It was not surprising that everyone wanted to be his omega, or even just a lover. Of course, Spade would not allow anyone to obtain anything against him, especially the position of his mate and empress. Nobody, not even his mother, can manipulate him.

It was the reason he was surprised by the pheromone's effect on him; it had been a long time since Spade felt as if his resolve could crumble at any moment. Spade's jaw tightened, and he drew back the growl that threatened to escape from his mouth.

The sweet, provoking scent in the air was attempting to arouse the lust and desire to devour and possess the omega. It was his first time, not even when the first omega in the heat was purposefully presented to him when he was sixteen. Spade's eyes darkened as he struggled to control his emotions.
