For the first time in her life, Zoe felt lighter, healthier, happier, and better. It was as if the huge load on her shoulder, though it wasn't entirely off, then someone was sharing the load with her and it eased the effort. Someone was by her side now. Someone that she could call…. a friend.
There was a different air around Zoe and most people noticed it thanks to her giggling and exchanging secret details with her partner, Olivia. No one told her that having a friend was this exhilarating, wonderful, and easier. Zoe has been on her own for a while now like an Island, completely cut off from the others. But not anymore. Someone was looking out for her now and she didn't have to fight her battles all alone.
The rest of the day went by completely fine and not even Jessa and her goon came to bother her until school was over. While Zoe would have been the first to run off as usual, she couldn't because Olivia had other suggestions.
