"You should loosen up, I'm the one going on a date, not a war," Kelvin told Luke who was looking tense by his side and had an unsmiling expression. It was a miracle that there weren't children around else they would be scared silly by his stern look.
"I'd be much happier if you were going to war, that way, I know what to look out for and that is saving your ungrateful ass. Unlike going on a date with a woman I have no idea what intent she harbors towards you." Luke retorted, eyes darting around as they walked into the little walkway opening into the restaurant.
"Alicia does not bite." He said.
"Yeah, people like you would never understand the vipers that run in our circle until they've sunk their claws deep inside of you." Luke jibed at him.
It was an obvious insult and it didn't sit well with Kelvin considering it was a reminder that this was all temporary and soon he would return to his poor, pathetic look - not unless he claimed it.
