Zoe made dinner that night and it was eaten in comfortable silence. Although she still couldn't understand the culture of eating together - they weren't even a family- she wanted to eat her food in her room. But then, Zoe did not want to make everything seem weird, not after she promised Gabriel to play it cool.
She was about to sip her soup when Jackson asked, "Why do I feel like there is something different about the both of you tonight?"
Zoe halted at once, her gaze connecting with Gabriel while her pulse started to race. There was no way Jackson knew they kissed right? Gabriel wouldn't tell him, she was sure of that. The man was not a huge talker. Neither would he boast about something like that when there was a contract in place.
"You indeed like to sprout nonsense," Gabriel acted nonchalantly, hoping that was enough to throw Jackson off the subject. But he should have known by now.
