Chereads / When Sky Falls In Love / Chapter 4 - Crazy Plan

Chapter 4 - Crazy Plan

Selena's POV

"Why you suddenly wanted to visit the farm?" I heard Stan ask his brother while I looked at the long, winding road ahead, and Skyler was driving the car, almost exceeding the speed limit, which made me grip my seat.

I was wearing a seatbelt, but I couldn't stop feeling worried since he was driving so fast that I missed enjoying the scenery since it became blurry.

The sky was overcast, and I could tell it was about to rain.

"I will be leaving Santa Clara soon, and I don't know when I will be back," Skyler responded while I could feel the pain in my heart.

Yeah, I must be crazy for feeling this way; I knew he would be studying in the capital since he would start his career, and it only meant I could no longer see his handsome face, and I would be left behind. My chance to date Sky evaporated immediately, knowing he would graduate from High School soon.

I could feel the racing of my heart, and every time

he changed gear, I would become conscious since I could feel his arm touch mine.

I smiled as I realized all I needed was to have high scores in all my subjects so I could apply for a scholarship where Sky would be admitted to college, and yes, that is my crazy plan, so I can still see him, and maybe I will have a chance on him.

I closed my eyes and pretended I had fallen asleep, and I didn't try to move an inch since I was enjoying Skyler's nearness.

"You hated the farm, Skyler, and I am just wondering why you are suddenly interested in visiting the coconut plantation." My best friend declared.

I could say Stanley was doubtful why his hot brother came with us, or he was only trying to get some answers from his brother. Maybe my best friend wanted to find out if it was because of me that Sky came with us.

I knew I only imagined things, and I should stop myself from believing that Sky was into me to avoid breaking my heart, but I couldn't help it; I wished to be with him.

I should be thankful to Stanley for allowing me to be with his brother, even if he got personal intentions; I didn't mind if he was only using me, I was doing it for both of us, but I was afraid of what would be the outcome of our agenda.

"You are not the only son of our father, Stanley, and who gave you the idea that I hated the plantation?" He asked, and I could tell he was looking at his brother in the rearview mirror.

"Well, I am not saying I was the only child; I was curious why now? You seldom visit the plantation, only when we were still in grade school," Stan responded.

"You knew I was busy with practice, but I didn't say I hated the farm; I love that place; I know how much our father wanted me to be with him every time he checked the plantation," Skyler replied.

"I am glad our dad supported me in my dream of becoming a professional basketball player," Sky stated, and I could feel the excitement in his voice, and it was not a question of how much he loved that sport.

"Of course, he is your number one fan," my best friend responded, and I wished to add I am his forever fan.

"Yeah, I know about that; how about you?" Sky asked.

"You knew I would always be here to support you, Sky," Stan replied.

"I don't think so; I wondered why every time I have a game, you were no longer there to support me, and the next thing I knew, you were playing bowling with Selene." Skyler declared.

"It is Selena," Stan answered, and I wanted to correct Sky that I am Selena and not Selene, but Stan beat me to it, and his brother laughed.

"It sounded the same in my ear, Stanley," Skyler replied, and my neck hurt since I didn't move even a little.

"Why do you stop watching my game, Stanley?" Sky asked.

"I don't need to watch your game, besides you've got a lot of fans, Sky; why do I need to cheer for you?" Stan asked.

"Because you are my younger brother, a family, I knew dad wanted to watch my every game, but he was busy running our companies and the farm," Sky replied, and I could feel the sadness in his voice.

"Is this all because of Dayana? I knew she was back in town," Sky responded, and I suddenly stretched my legs since I didn't know Dayana was back.

"She was at school this afternoon to enroll," Sky said, and his brother fell silent, and I knew now why Stan was desperate to break his brother's heart.

Dayana went abroad to study, and I didn't know she was back in Santa Clara.

"Are you trying to hurt her again?" Stanley asked, and I could tell this time he didn't hide his anger towards his brother.

"Look, I already apologize to you; I knew you cared about Dayana because she was one of your close friends, but you have to believe me, Stanley; I didn't break her heart. I told her from the start I didn't want commitment; besides, I was only sixteen at that time." Sky explained, and I couldn't believe they would be discussing Dayana.

I could feel the tension in the air, and I was only glad Sky wasn't in love with Dayana, or else I would be dealing with my own broken heart.

"Just stay away from her, Skyler," Stan warned his elder brother.

"You don't need to remind me, Stan; I will stay away from her; besides, you knew I was not interested in her," Sky replied, and I wanted to ask who the girl he was interested with is?

But I zipped my mouth during the entire ride as I listened to the loud pounding of my heart against my chest.

The rain poured heavily, and Skyler needed to slow down. I felt glad we had already passed the Archway of their plantation, and I was watching the coconut trees with awe. I could see the leaves swaying as the wind blew while the rain was still gushing.

"I didn't know it would rain here," Sky mumbled.

"Are you okay, Selene?" He asked, and I admit, I was beginning to like how he called my name, and I could feel the knots on my belly when I found him looking at me with concern on his face since I didn't expect he would ask if I was okay.

"Yeah, I am alright," I replied and averted his gaze quickly since I didn't know what to say to him.

The staff of their manor was waiting at the front porch, even if the heavy rain continued to fall.

They've got big umbrellas on their hands, and they quickly move towards the car after Sky pulls over in front of the beautiful house.

My father had been saving money to buy a house for us since we were only living at the place provided by Mr. Alcarazo.

I couldn't believe they got so many properties all over the country while we couldn't even afford to buy a bungalow house.

As we got inside the magnificent house, I realized their dad had made some renovations on the manor. The exquisite architecture design, the paneled walls, marbled floors, and the glass windows where I could see the plantation were terrific.

Mr. Cortezo was a good man, and his children are lucky to have him as their dad. He is a loving person, and I could tell it based on my experience. He cared about my sister and me even if we were only his mechanic's children.

"This would be your room, Selena, but you can always sleep in my room," Stanley said, and I smiled as I looked at the spacious room.

"Are you kidding me? There is no way I would be sleeping in your room, I got this room all by myself, and I would like to savor the moment," I responded, and he laughed.

He came inside my assigned room and collapsed on the bed.

"I wished it didn't rain; I wanted to stroll on the plantation and drink fresh coconut water," he said as he looked at me.

"Me too," I replied.

"Don't worry; I am sure it won't rain tomorrow morning, and I would like to discuss our plans with you." He declared.

"Your plans," I corrected him.

"Okay, my plans, but since you are my accomplice, it would be your plans too," he replied, and I couldn't stop feeling scared.

"Since my brother is here, we start with our plans one by one. What you did during our trip was a no-no; you didn't say anything to him; I thought you wanted to help me, but what you did felt like you weren't interested in him." He declared, and I sat on the bed and looked at him.

I wanted to confess to Stanley and tell him I was in love with his elder brother, but I couldn't do it, and I was afraid that he would hate me after he will learn the truth.

Our friendship was very important to me; I was brokenhearted when we left the place I called home when I was in 6th grade, and we moved to Santa Clara, a new environment with new people I needed to deal with every day.

I was in pain, too, since I couldn't accept mom would leave us without taking a second look, and Stanley was the first and the only person who made friends with me.

He was there from the moment we arrived in their mansion in the capital until today, and I will be forever grateful to him for being a true friend to me all through the years we had known each other.

"What do you want me to do, Stan? You knew I had no dating experience; how would I know?" I asked, and his face softened.

"Besides, I don't know how to flirt," I added, and he laughed.

"Don't worry; you don't need to flirt with him, Selena; I knew why he came with us because he wanted to be with you," he said, and I couldn't stop laughing.

"What is so funny, Selena?" He asked, and I could tell he was irritated with me.

"I am sorry, but I couldn't believe it; your brother will never like me, Stanley; I am not his type," I replied.

"I knew I was the only one who knew it, and it would be okay, as long as you will never fall in love with Sky; it would be your biggest mistake if it happened, Selena," he responded, and I could see the seriousness on his face.

"It won't happen, Stan," I replied, sounding confident.

"Good, tonight, I will make sure you will be alone with my brother after dinner; I will stay in my room, and I trust you, Selena; you can do the rest," he stated.

I tried not to show my excitement since I wanted Stanley to think I wasn't interested in Skyler even if my heart was beating so fast, and I couldn't wait to spend time and be alone with Sky again.
