The moat was very deep; she was at least 5 ft 3 and she couldn't stand or feel the sand beneath her feet.
Her goal was to get to the other side as quickly and quietly as possible not wanting to wake any sleeping monsters that might be lurking beneath the waters.
The further she swam the darker the water appeared and it seemed as if in the center of the moat was the deepest part.
Her heart pounded in her chest the whole time as she kept her eyes peeled for anything that may suddenly start speeding towards her.
Fiona only breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the other side of the bank within reaching distance.
