Leila stares blankly at Nolan. She is trying to understand why he is acting this way. Leila was not putting on heels but sneakers, so she looked shorter than Nolan.
She had to look up at his face while he looked down at her. His eyes were staring at her as though trying to dig deep into her soul to understand her.
After locking eyes for about two minutes, Nolan winces as though in pain, shutting his eyes then turning his face to the side. Leila says nothing and just watches him. Nolan does not let go of Leila's hand.
He takes his gaze back to her with his gaze staring at her questionably, then turns back to his previous gaze. Noticing that Leila was not planning to say anything, he speaks,
"I know you think-"
Leila gets a whiff of his alcoholic breath and shuts her eyes. "Wow, you drank a lot" she interrupted
"I'm sorry, I-"
