"Are you sure you want to go?" Emily asked her husband, Angelo, as she fixed his bow tie. A few days ago, his stepmother had invited them to another one of her charitable events that she regularly hosts.
Emily had repeatedly tried her best to get Angelo to change his mind about going to the charity ball, even after he had not healed from the gunshot wound to his arm nearly a week ago. With a warm smile on his face, Angelo reached out to stop her from meddling with his bow tie. He took Emily's hands in his own and kissed them gently.
"I am fine; you do not have to worry yourself this much." He assured her, but even though he smiled at her, Emily was still wary that Angelo was in much more pain than he was letting on.
"Okay, are you ready to go?" she asked, after realizing that there was no way that he would change his mind.
"Ladies first," he told her, moving out of the way for his wife.
