Alistair looked at Adrienne in shock. Did she despise him so much that she would rather choose death than be with him?
Adrienne pressed the sharp shard against her neck, and it drew a trickle of blood down her skin. She remained unfazed by Alistair's horrified expression, her eyes filled with a haunting determination. Alistair's heart sank as he realized the depth of the desperate measures she was willing to take.
Alistair laughed mirthlessly.
"You want to die? How about Lennox Qin? I thought you would rather stay with him?"
Adrienne's grip on the shard tightened, her voice trembling as she responded, "Lennox is the love of my life. But don't think for a second that I would choose you over death."
Alistair's face darkened further, his mind racing to find a way to convince her otherwise.
