Andreas rarely slept, and even more rarely dreamed. However, when he did, his dreams often revolved around his mates.
The ones involving his first mate were typically haunted ones.
In this particular dream, he walked barefoot on white marble that stretched as far as his eyes could see. Faint whispers of a woman guided his steps, and he was compelled to comfort her.
The question nagged at him: which one of his two mates was she?
"I am not over either of you, why can't you see that?"
As he took longer strides over the marble, he suspected it was his first mate. Had her spirit somehow perceived what Egon was attempting to convey about her? The notion was too distressing to even entertain. How could he have been ensnared under a spell for all those centuries when he loved his two mates with equal ardor?
His two mates. They were one and the same.
