Egon and Adela embraced each other for an extended period, their shared contentment coursing through their bond. They continued to hold each other as they both gradually regained composure, their breaths synchronized, and their hearts beating as one.
"I reckon a bath is in order at this point."
"Hmm," she concurred with a smile, finding herself oddly anticipating the prospect of cleansing his body more than her own.
"Look at me."
His thumb lightly grazed her cheek, while his other arm remained securely around her, a furrow forming between his eyebrows.
"You cried."
"They were..." She took a moment, attempting to articulate the nature of those tears, "...Tears of elation, I think?"
His deep brown eyes assessed her answer as he continued to peer into the depths of her eyes, and once again, she sensed that he was attuned to her, listening to her body and not just her words. It was mutual, for she was attuned to his body as well.
