Carter's brow quirked as he listened through the door at the other woman's remark. "Then there has to be something wrong with him. No man like him would choose to treat women like us so well. He has a hidden agenda."
Internally, Carter chuckled. This was the place he wished to make his home. He found this quaint town, and its people, charming. It was rough right now, but with time, care, and the proper leadership, it could be a great place once more. He thought if Dahlia knew, she would probably be very surprised by his feelings for this place.
