In a rush, Merrick hurried to the bedside, the faint medicinal scent of herbal tea filling the air. He placed the steaming cup in Faye's trembling hands; the warmth seeping through her fingers. She slowly attempted to raise the cup to her lips, but her hands were trembling so hard she almost lost grip of the cup, spilling its contents.
Sterling quickly noticed and managed to seize it. "Here, let me assist you with that," he said, taking the cup from Faye and gently bringing it to her quivering lips. Gratefully, she accepted his kind offer and took a sip from the tea-filled cup.
Sterling stared at Faye as she was slow to drink the steaming liquid. The inner corner of her eyebrows were angled upwards. He could sense she was in some type of pain. "Is it too hot?"
Faye shook her head, her hoarse voice answering, "My throat hurts from coughing."
