The clinking of a fork against a plate echoed in the kitchen as Helena looked up, meeting Merrick's piercing, icy blue eyes. The smell of dinner lingering around the room. Merrick's curiosity grew, wondering how she had gained the knowledge to banish the elusive, shadowy spirit that had revealed itself before.
Merrick's eye darted anxiously at Carter and shifted back to Helena. "I'm curious. How did you know to use that amulet against that spirit in the bedroom?"
"I didn't." Helena explained, "Something inside me told me to use the amulet. I had no clue it held that kind of power to chase off the demonic spirit."
Carter was next to speak. "Do you know what type of fiend it was?"
Helena glanced around the table at all that were gathered and shook her head. "I have never encountered anything like it. Thus, I cannot say what that thing was. But from what I saw in the room, it preys on the weak and dying."
