Faye buried her head in the Duke's shoulder, hiding her agonized look while she sobbed. She was so grateful for this man who held her. She had always longed for someone to love her the way he did.

The Duke heard her soft sobs and took his fingers to tilt her chin to meet his gaze. He claimed her lips with his, pressing over them, sliding his tongue between the seams. Compelling her to open her mouth so he could deepen their kiss.
A sense of peace swept over Faye. She placed her arms around the Duke's waist and caressed the taut muscles of his back. Wanting to feel every inch of this man and share her affection with him.
However, the tears and sorrowful ache in her chest would not stop. It was as if something had broken inside her. She buried her face in Sterling's chest so he wouldn't see her shamefully crying.
