The men around the table fell into a sudden silence as the gentle hum of light snoring filled the space, capturing their attention.
Their gazes instinctively shifted towards the head of the council room table, their eyes fixated on the source of the sound.
"Zzzzz….Zzzz…Zzz…"
When they saw what was in front of them, some of them couldn't help but let out a snicker.
In the midst of the discussion, Faye had dozed off, her head gently nodding on the Duke's shoulder.
Sterling eyes searched those of the men gathered. He could see that their worries from earlier had diminished. They all gave him relaxed looks of trust. It seemed he had placated their fears.
Right now, he needed to focus on his wife.
Breaking the silence, it was Sir Roland who spoke first. His words carried softly in the air. They were barely audible as he quietly whisper-shouted across the room to the Duke.
