Faye stood beside her stallion, the snowflakes brushing the warm delicate flesh of her cheeks and melting on contact.
There was no wildlife like the time she visited here. It was unnervingly silent except for the winter wind and the snow-covered pines that creaked and groaned as they were swayed by it.
While the others mounted their stallions, she saw Sir Proud exit from the rear entrance and take a horse from one of her escort knights. Her spirits lifted slightly, seeing the paladin she had once saved and knowing that he would travel with them.
Faye's tired eyes scanned the others and observed as the other escort knight gently lifted Kalandra onto his horse to ride with him.
She was drawn back from her distractions upon hearing Sir Proud's voice. "Your Grace, will you please lead the way."
