Dahlia stood and shook her rich chocolate-colored fur out once more, removing any unsightly debris from it. She was in awe of how her wolf's body worked. The feel of the hard, frozen earth beneath her claws and paws had her itching to run.
It was astonishing how in tune she was with the outside world around her. The scent of wild game was driving her instincts to forage wild.
And… Suddenly, it dawned on her how hungry she was.
It was overriding any other urge she had right now. The need to feed. All she and her empty stomach wanted was food.
She looked up at Carter and wondered if he felt the same after his shift.
Carter noticed his mate's wolf's expression and the drool dribbling out of the corner of her mouth.
"Are you hungry?" he asked her curiously. Already knowing what his mate's answer would be.
