Faye slowly lifted herself up, groggily rubbing her eyes with her hands. Her head was throbbing. As she tried to piece together how she ended up in this unfamiliar location, her fingers grazed her cheek, and she winced at the sharp pain that shot through her skin. The sensation lingered, leaving a tingling feeling on her cheek that was unpleasant.
She grimaced and hissed at the pain.
"Hissss!"
Upon Faye removing her hands from her face, Mielle noticed a good-sized bruise on the side of the Duchess's cheek. She reached out and gently cupped Faye's chin in her hand, turning her face so she could get a better look at it in the light. Mielle noticed a sharp contrast in color against Faye's porcelain skin. The reddish-purple blotch was now the size of a small apple.
The maid couldn't help but feel a sense of unease as she leaned in closer to examine the blemish further. She asked, her tone laced with concern.
