Chapter 7 - Class Awakening?

After walking a bit more, they encountered some mutated grasshoppers and killed them.

[Congratulations! You can now initiate your job awakening]

Both of them received a notification after they collected 100 mystic essences!

A new tab appeared in their status panel about the job awakening.

"Let's initiate it together," Rin said.

"Wait," Erix stopped her and frowned.

"What if this job awakening takes some time, and we become unconscious for a bit? Let's not do it together. You go first. I'll watch," Erix said.

"Make sense. Alright, I'll go first," Rin said as she nodded and initiated her job awakening.

However, it was different from what Erix expected.

"Eh, I got some options," Rin said as she shared her screen with Erix. They could do that since they were in a team.

Erix saw the screen and raised his eyebrows in surprise.

"I am going to choose Blade Dancer," Rin smiled. "It sounds stronger than the rest."

"Yep," Erix nodded as he agreed with her choice.

Rin selected the Blade Dancer class as she willed it with her mind.

[You can either awaken your job class by completing three simple tasks or finish three time-limited tougher tasks to awaken the upgraded version of Blade Dancer.]

[Normal Awakening] - [Higher Awakening]

Erix and Rin looked at each other after they read Rin's new screen panels.

"Well, the answer is clear," Rin grinned.

"We desired to be at the top even in the modern world, but only one law works in this world now," Erix sharply smiled with burning ambition in his eyes, "It's clear which choice will make us more powerful in this jungle."

Without hesitation, Rin selected the second option.

[Tasks]

-10 days left.

-> Kill fifty sentient beings or mutated monsters below level 50. (0/50).

-> Kill one Supra-Order (level 50+) random monster. (0/1).

-> Kill one Supra-Order (level 50+) demon and absorb its origin core (0/1).

"Sentient beings, heh? We are going to kill them soon," Rin scoffed before she turned to Erix. "Alright. Now your turn."

Erix nodded as he initiated his job awakening and got options.

[Choose one]

-1) Martial Artist

-2) Assassin

-3) Mage

-4) Undead Mage

-5) Arcane Lich

-6) [Unique Job Class: Zombie Lord]

"Zombie Lord, right?"

"Yep," Erix grinned as he selected Zombie Lord without hesitation.

Just like Rin, he also got tasks.

[Tasks]

-> Kill one Supra-Order ( level 50+) Undead-Type being (0/1).

"Welp, we failed to get our job class, but we still became significantly strong. So let's go back and slaughter that father-son duo," Rin said as a ruthless glint passed through her eyes.

"Alright," Erix nodded.

Erix and Rin quietly returned, but as they neared the campus, they saw four police officers looking around with torch lights.

Erix and Rin decided to walk toward them head-on.

The four police officers soon spotted them and pointed their guns at them.

All four revealed furious expressions because they knew those two had killed their fellow police officers.

"Angry, eh? Because we killed those police officers?" Erix coldly scoffed.

"You fuckers! Kneel and hands behind your back if you don't want to get shot!" one of the police officers shouted with red eyes.

"Shoot, and you will dig your own grave," Rin said with a cold expression, "You fucking dogs of that mayor. What did I do to deserve that treatment? Bunch of scum!"

*Thak!*

One of them fired, and the bullet hit Rin's chest!

Alas, Rin looked below and saw bullets getting pinched before they fell to the ground.

Grinning, she said, "It slightly tickles."

*Swoosh!*

Erix waved his hand as the dagger flew like a death sickle shining in the faint moonlight, spraying out blood and forcing out screams from its targets.

He cut all four police officers behind their necks as pain flooded their entire body. Their skins started rotting before turning dark green and deteriorating due to the dagger's poison.

After three seconds, all four of them died.

"We gave you a chance, so you shouldn't have fired," Erix muttered before he looked at the gate after hearing the sound of footsteps.

"Rin, no need to hold back. They didn't help you, so we don't need to show mercy. Kill everyone who comes to attack us!"

"Ok, darling," Rin said as a lovely smile appeared on her face.
