Chapter 4 - Finally, Home!

Next morning,

Iris and Cassandra arrived home at nine. However, Iris didn't have time to explore as she immediately rushed to her bedroom. She wanted to check everything related to herself.

As she entered the bathroom, her attention was captivated by the mirror. Slowly, she approached it and stood in front, feeling a sense of amusement.

Once again, Iris was mesmerized by her reflection. She possessed a stunning figure that would make other women envious. Her fair and smooth skin radiated a youthful glow, and her curvy shape, particularly her chest, was something many women desired. She knew that her long, slender legs were coveted by many as well.

Iris still found it hard to believe that this young girl bore such a striking resemblance to her teenage self.

"How can someone look exactly like me? It's as if we were born twins," Iris took a deep breath. "But there's no way we could be twins. We are ten years apart."

Running her fingers over her delicate face, she could feel the smoothness of her pale skin, as flawless as a baby's. Not a single pore could be seen.

"And you have a graceful nose, Iris!" she smiled, noticing how her sharp and beautiful nose complemented her almond-shaped eyes. Her eye color is rare; midnight blue eyes are exactly the same as hers.

"You are beautiful, Iris!" She couldn't help but admire her youthful appearance.

The only difference between her and this girl was their hair. Iris had short, ink-black hair, and this little girl's hair cascaded in gorgeous waves. She had never seen herself with such a hairstyle before.

Her slender fingers ran through her long, wavy, light brown hair, creating a peculiar sensation. It felt surprisingly soft, even though it hadn't been washed in a few days.

A smile graced Iris's lips, but it faded as she realized something.

"Why doesn't that guy like this girl? She's so beautiful, yet he continues rejecting her, even though she confesses her feelings every month. Why?"

Iris couldn't understand. Curiosity sparked within her as she yearned to meet this man. She wanted to understand him.

"Xavier Darkwood!" The name escaped her lips, causing her heart to tremble. Her eyes widened as she caught sight of her reflection. "Could it be... that he holds the key to unlocking my memories?" Just thinking about it could make Iris thrilled.

Last night, Iris was speechless by what she had heard from Cassandra. The young Iris possessed a completely different personality from her own. She is calm and tomboyish, while this girl exudes passion and femininity. This girl also won't leave the house without makeup and hair styling.

The young Iris had been a constant source of headaches for Cassandra. The school had called Cassandra twice, and she almost dropped out. But what caused even more stress for Cassandra was Iris shamelessly pursuing the new guy in town, Xavier Darkwood. The new guy had recently moved to their small town and was in the same class as Iris.

As for herself, she preferred to remain hidden. She always wore a hat and rarely applied makeup, using them as camouflage. Clothing style doesn't matter to her, as her wardrobe only has one color, black.

This is her second life, and she is determined to live it as best she can. In her previous life, she had dreamed of retiring as an assassin, and God had granted her wish in a strange twist of fate — She had to die and transmigrate into this girl's body.

She pressed her palms against her cheek and gazed at her reflection in the mirror.

"Iris Gray, I don't know why you died in the forest. However, thank you for allowing me to live in your body. I promise I will become a better person and protect your grandma," she sincerely said.

After she felt better, she emerged from the bathroom and finally took notice of her bedroom. The room looks small but neatly arranged, with a typical college student room.

In one corner of the room stood a single bed, while on the other side, by the French window, was a study table with a MacBook Air on it. She also saw a collection of books neatly arranged on a bookshelf adjacent to the table.

As Iris explored further, she noticed some peculiar items neatly displayed on the bookshelf. Curious, she looked closer, and her jaw nearly dropped in shock.

"This girl is a K-pop fan!?" Iris found herself at a loss for words, feeling a mix of perplexed, meh, and amusement. Setting aside her mixed feelings, she decided to continue exploring, and now with more objectivity.

Now, her attention was drawn to the two-door wardrobe near the bathroom area. When she opened it, she instantly cursed.

"Damn it! What with all the bright-colored clothes, girl?" she muttered, realizing there were no black jeans or T-shirts to be found.

Frustrated by the large selection of feminine clothes, Iris closed the wardrobe with a sigh, and a wave of dizziness washed over her.

"It seems I need to go shopping!! Sorry, girl. Your fashion is nowhere near my taste."

As she closed the wardrobe, she suddenly remembered her cell phone. After looking for the cell phone in the drawer but she couldn't find it, her eyes spotted an extremely eye-catching pink bag hanging on the back of the study chair.

She opened it and found the phone inside along with her wallet. With a sigh, she retrieved her phone from inside the pink bag. But she couldn't check yet—the battery was dead. It was the same fate on her laptop, rendering it unusable.

"Iris, could you please come downstairs?" Cassandra's voice echoed from afar, reaching Iris's ears.

She immediately opened the door and shouted, "I'll be there in a minute, Grandma!"

Iris quickly charged all her gadgets and hastily put on the most decent clothes she could find in her wardrobe—a dark brown knee-length skirt and a white T-shirt. She wrapped herself in a dark gray coat and swiftly styled her long hair into a messy bun before rushing downstairs to the bustling cafe.

Surprisingly, The Gray Cafe was already bustling with customers, even though it had just opened.
