Chapter 7 - The String Of Blood

Abigail suddenly felt the hand on her wrist tightening so much that she yelped and screamed, "OW, OW, OW, IT HURTS!!!"

"If it hurts," Nicholas was practically seething in anger as he spoke through his gritted teeth, "then you'd better learn your lesson and behave."

That sentence made Abigail even angrier. Of course, she was a young woman who had a thing about her mood swings, but so what? The world didn't have that kind of authority to point fingers at her face! Only she could do that! No one else!

Her face fumed in anger once again as she pointed her finger at the man in front of her. "What did I say wrong? Ain't I Mrs. Harrison?"

Nicholas stayed silent, looking at her coldly. But he loosened his firm grip on her wrist, still not letting go. He wanted to see what kind of nonsense she wanted to spout through her annoying mouth.

"Why aren't you saying anything?!" Abigail's nose was fuming because of anger as she glared at the man and said, "You don't have the right over what happens to the garden. It's only the wife who handles everything at home! So you'd better behave yourself or else, I'll burn the whole place up while you're working!"

For a moment, Nicholas really did feel like she would burn it all up.

But he wasn't in the least bit afraid. Abigail was merely an ant in front of him who's trying her best to show her claws.

Heh, let's see how long she would try.

Abigail soon realized something was wrong. She abruptly calmed down as she poked the man's cheek again and again until he ended up grabbing her other hand, staring deeply at her.

Then Nicholas said, "I warn you. Don't play with fire."

After saying those words, he left her and entered the main house, stepping onto the broken pieces of vase on the ground. Before opening the door to his house, he turned around and said, " Since you're Mrs. Harrison now and since you own this place, you must have keys to enter the house, don't you?"

Abigail's eyes widened. She wasn't a fool, and she instantly realized what he planned to do! "You-!"

The man shut the door in her face and even locked it from the inside. Then he turned toward his butler and said, "No one's giving her keys."

After that, he walked upstairs to his room.

Abigail was fuming again, but she had already destroyed the garden. How would she vent her frustration now?

She clutched her hair as she yelled at the top of her lungs and finally put her hands down when she was done yelling. She took a few deep breaths and said, "Alright. Good. You want me out of this house, don't you? Very good, then I'll do just the opposite. I'll dance right under your nose, and you can't do a f*cking thing about it!"

"How annoying!" She mumbled under her breath. "He's my own character, how come he's not respecting me?! I gave him life!"

She raised her head again and cupped her mouth, yelling, "Nicholas Harrison, you jerk!"

Since he was hell bent on being rude to her, then don't blame her for giving him a tit-for-tat! The two of them could play the game until the end of time!

She instantly looked around and walked a bit further, raising her head to glance at the entire building. Once she caught the sight of a certain balcony that seemed to be attached to a bedroom, the corner of her lips curled up.

If she were an ordinary girl, she would have cried bitterly, but not Abigail. She had run away from the mental institute quite a lot of times. So she excelled in climbing up and down the pipes easily.

So right in front of the shocked gazes of the guards, she rushed over to a pipe attached to the balcony, and then she started to climb.

The guards all thought she would fall and break her legs. Cold sweat formed on their backs as they continued to watch.

"Hey… should we help her?"

"And get fired and forced to beg on the street?!" Another guard spoke, shaking his head. "Let it be. He would be happier if she breaks her legs."

"Ah, you're right."

"What if… What if she dies?"

"Eh? What the heck?! Who can die after falling from such a height?!"

To their surprise, when they glanced back, they saw Abigail successfully climbing to the balcony as she leaned on the railing for a few seconds to catch a breath and grinned, even showing the guards a thumbs up. Then she turned around and opened the door.

"No… Wait a minute… She just went to boss's bedroom!"

Abigail didn't know where she went. She just chose the room that happened to be Nicholas's bedroom. Her luck was really against her tonight.

As soon as she stepped inside the room, she grimaced seeing everything in black and white. Of course, there were shades of grey, but that's it. No colors.

Then she remembered the description of her own novel where she had once described Nicholas's bedroom and facepalmed herself.

Damn it, of all the rooms, why did I have to enter his?!

She looked around vigilantly. She could hear the sound of shower running through the bathroom. That means the man might still be taking a bath.

She heaved a sigh of relief.

Good, now let's change the room first!

But before she could take another step toward the door, the shower stopped. Abigail's eyes widened as she looked around and finally turned to glance at the wardrobe.

She rushed with all her might and opened the door, entering it swiftly. The next second, the bathroom door also opened, revealing a familiar young man with only a towel tied loosely around his waist.

His toned abs were visible, and even the mermaid lines that went down, beneath the towel.

Abigail could see it all.

Damn, the character she created was so damn freaking handsome! Oh no, she felt her nose feeling hot. Was she going to embarrass herself just by watching the man almost naked?!

Nicholas walked over and turned toward the balcony in confusion.

Strange, he didn't leave it open. Or did he? His brows furrowed as he walked toward the wardrobe.

Even the wardrobe door was opened. Nicholas merely furrowed his brows as he shook away that thought to the back of his head and walked inside. Since he thought he was the only person there, he merely dropped the towel on the ground.

"And the string of blood is here," Abigail muttered under her breath, covering her eyes and nose firmly.
