She jolted awake and found herself clinging to Octavian once again.
The sun was considerably lower in the sky. The bright orange glow was beginning to fade to the deep purples and blues of night.
"Awake, empress?" Lyov queried from beside her, giving her a small smile.
Her eyes widened. "How long did I sleep??" She asked, and immediately began to turn the fabric of the sling so that she could peer into it.
The softest mew and a tongue on her fingertips answered that question, at least.
Snowball was awake, and he seemed to be fine, based on what little she could tell from his tiny noises and gentle lick to her finger.
That was one of her many concerns put at ease.
Phoenix smiled and held out Snowball's bottle.
"Here. We're not ready to stop yet, and the driver says we might not be able to make it to the safe house tonight regardless. Might as well give the darling his milk."
"Thank you..."
