Chapter 93 - CHAPTER 93

In the Obstetrics and Gynecology ward at the hospital.

Alice was lying on a hospital bed, looking very anxious.

There were sufficient evidence and witnesses to charge her with stealing. She was currently on bail, pending trial. There were police officers outside the door watching over her.

In other words, if Joanna refused to drop the case, Alice would go to jail for at least three years.

Although she did not have to stay in jail during the pregnancy and breastfeeding period, she would be after that.

More importantly, once she was convicted of a criminal offense, her life would be completely ruined!

If she had known that Joanna was such a tough opponent, she would have kept low and stayed far away from Joanna!

Alice had tried calling Ace many times, but he did not answer any of her calls. It was obvious that he did not want to talk to her. She did not know if he would even save her.

She had really made a mess of things this time!

At that moment, her attending physician came in. He closed the door behind him and looked at her with a sad expression.

"Miss Alice, your examination results are out. The situation is a bit complicated. I need to have a word with you."

"What's the matter? Is something wrong with my baby?"

"There is indeed a problem. Maybe we should wait for Mr. Moran and discuss a solution together?"

Alice frowned and pondered for a few seconds, then said, "It's fine. You can tell me first. After all, I'm the one bearing the child. I can handle any issues and make my own decisions."

"Alright then!"

The doctor sighed and handed the newly issued examination report to Alice, saying. "Miss Alice, we've detected a genetic defect in your baby. If you give birth to it, it'll most likely have a mental disability, so we suggest…"

"What do you mean, mental disability?"

Alice was very emotional. She said, "There's no way! My baby has always been doing fine. The baby's parents are also very normal. How can it suddenly become mentally disabled? You must have made a mistake!"

"Calm down, Miss Alice…"

The doctor consoled Alice and explained, "Because it's a genetic defect, it's impossible to detect it in the early stage of pregnancy. You're now in the second trimester of your pregnancy, so your fetus has developed more, and that has revealed many hidden conditions. We recommend performing an abortion as soon as possible before you reach the third trimester of pregnancy. That's the safest option for you!"

"No!"

Alice exclaimed, "I won't let anyone touch my child. It carries the Moran blood. If you dare to touch it, you'll be messing with the Moran family. Can you bear the consequences?"

The baby was her last hope. If she lost the baby, it would be all over for her.

But to be honest, she was actually unsure if the baby's biological father was Dylan Moran.

Alice vaguely remembered that she had not only had sex with Dylan that day. She had gone to a bar in the evening and got drunk with a bunch of friends. She could not remember clearly whether she had sex afterwards.

"Miss Alice, aborting the baby now is the best solution because the baby has a genetic defect and may stop developing altogether in the later stages of pregnancy in other words, it'll be a stillborn. That will be very harmful to your health!*

Upon hearing the doctor's explanation, Alice's face turned deathly pale. She was in despair.

"You… are you trying to scare me?"

"I'm not."

The doctor looked sympathetically at Alice. This kind of thing was an extremely painful experience for any mother to go. through. "Maybe we should ask Mr. Moran to come over and hear what he thinks."

"No, you can't call him over!"

Alice grabbed the doctor's hand and pleaded in tears, "Doctor, I beg you. Ace loves the baby very much and looks forward to having a child. You can't tell him about this. I want to take the risk and give birth to the baby anyway. Even if the baby has a mental disability, I think the Moran family will still accept the baby and Ace will still be happy!"

"This is not a matter of taking the risk or not. It's that, nine times out of ten, the baby might not even live until the third trimester of pregnancy. In just a month or two, it'll stop developing…"

"Say no more, doctor, I've made my decision. If it successfully gets born, it's a miracle. If it doesn't, it's an accident." 1

Alice already had a solution in mind. She warned the doctor, "You better not tell anyone else about this. If news get out that the Moran family's baby is mentally disabled, your career, and maybe even this hospital, will suffer!"

The doctor suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. He gulped and said, "I understand, Miss Alice. I should have been more thoughtful. Don't worry, the secret is safe with me!"

After the doctor left. Alice rubbed her belly, angry and disappointed. She said, "You should have done better. God gave you the chance to be born into the Moran family, but you actually have a genetic defect… You're gonna stop developing anyway, so don't blame me for being cruel!"

What the doctor meant was obvious. Regardless of whether the baby was aborted or not, it would not survive.

In that case, she would much rather let the baby die in a miscarriage so that she would not be held responsible.

As for how the miscarriage would happen…

Alice's eyes became poisonous. Didn't that bitch Joanna despise her? In that case, it's completely possible for Joanna to "lose control of her emotions" and kill her baby.

When that happened. Ace would definitely make the person who killed his dead brother's child pay. Alice would not even have to do anything else and Joanna would die a miserable death.

Thinking of that, a content smile crept onto Alice's face. Her touch on the belly became a lot gentler. "Give them a good show, my baby. This is the last thing you can do for mommy!"

"Alice Alice, there's someone here to see you."

The police officer standing guard outside knocked on the door and informed her coldly.

"Someone's here to see me?"

Alice was overjoyed.

It must be Ace! Ace had come to see her!

She tidied herself in the mirror excitedly and opened the door with a smile. Standing outside was a middle–aged woman she had never met before.

Her face immediately cooled. She asked angrily, "Who are you? Do I know you?"

"Hi, Miss Alice. I'm the Pierce family's nanny. You can call me Nancy."

Nancy said politely with a smile.

"The Pierce family's nanny?"

Alice's expression got even darker. She snapped, "Did Joanna ask you to come here?"

"No. I came to see you on my own. Miss Joan doesn't know about this."

Nancy went straight to the point. "I came to see you today because I hope that I can convince you to do what's best for everyone, which is to leave Mr. Moran. Mr. Moran and Miss Joanna are still in love. You won't be happy being with Mr. Moran."

"Hah. You're just a servant. Know your place!"

Alice did not expect Nancy, who looked gentle and kind, to be so aggressive. As expected of Joanna Pierce's dog. She was

just like Joanna.

Alice had intended to give Nancy a piece of her mind, but suddenly she had a clever idea and Immediately changed her attitude, putting on a helpless expression.

"Actually, I know that Ace doesn't like me, but what can I do? I'm pregnant with his child. I can't let my baby be born without a father, can I?"

"But…"

Nancy originally wanted to confront Alice on behalf of Joanna.

After all, Joanna was also pregnant with Ace's child. If it weren't for Alice's shameless intervention, Ace would not have divorced Joanna.

But she swallowed the words that came to her lips.

Joanna forbade her from telling anyone about the pregnancy in order to protect the baby. Nancy would naturally keep her

secret safe.

Alice glanced at Nancy and continued acting. "You don't have to remind me. I know very well that a marriage without love is a tragedy for a woman. It's a life without happiness!"

"As if I don't want to leave Ace? I've even thought of aborting the baby so that I can search for my own happiness again, but

at this point, the matter is already out of my control. Ace would never let me abort the baby…"

Nancy now had a complicated look on her face. She asked tentatively. "Are you sure you want to abort the baby?"

"I've wanted to do it for a long time. It's just that Ace's keeping a close eye on me and no hospital dares to perform the operation. I don't know how I can get an abortion!"

Nancy took a deep breath and said in a serious tone. "If you really want to, I know a way."
