Chapter 105 - The Deserter

Shortly before my turn is up, Lucas comes shuffling out of the bedroom, looking tired.

He brightens when he sees me and shuffles up closer to me, sitting next to me. He leans his cheek on my shoulder.

This man really has no sense of personal space.

"What are you doing awake? I have first watch, you should be sleeping."

Lucas sighs, nuzzles his cheek to my shoulder, unbothered by my attempted scolding. "It's nice to get a little time alone..." he murmurs, his eyelashes lowering over his eyes.

"And this is what you want to do with the opportunity?" I lift a brow. "Cuddle?"

He smiles sweetly up at me. "Why? Is that a problem?"

I roll my eyes and let him lean into me for now.

"Don't expect it to be habit. Go to bed."

He chuckles softly, then huffs, tucking his head into my shoulder, shifting to get more comfortable. For several minutes he doesn't move, but eventually he hums and gets off trotting deeper into the house.
