Chapter 127 - The Tear's Damage

"I see..." Lucas nods, crossing his arms.

Whatever he thinks, he's doing a good job right now of suppressing it into a simple, concerned frown.

It's probably for the best. Saying or doing rash things right now might only increase the torment of those in the village.

The man shakes his head as he continues.

"If you're traveling with your wife I suggest you don't stay here long. And I don't suggest you come through on your way back." He sighs. "Those of us who can leave are doing the same. The sooner anyone's out of here the better."

Lucas nods, lips pressed together. "I can understand that, but there's no way we can but off resting tonight. Even if it's a risk, we'll have to take it."

I cross my arms and grip my biceps extra hard, but hold my tongue.

There's no running from the effects of the Angel's Tear. Leaving this town won' t actually do anything. If it's something targeted, too, then it'll just chase them wherever they go.
