The caravan takes two days to get from Celend to the split in the road for Kelros and Neraw.
Neraw has another road that can meet back up with Kelros - we've taken it in the past. It's not as big as the main road to the capital, but not so small that a caravan of our reasonably small size would have trouble traversing it.
Thus, it's not entirely the wrong direction to dip over to Neraw and check up on it again...but it will be a detour that will add more time to our trip.
We're not exactly racing to the capital in the first place, but the situation is urgent, all the same. Just wandering aimlessly and taking detours will do no one any good.
Thus, even before we reach the split, the four of us discuss in the wagon what we should do.
