Chapter 23 - Perfect Human

When Aunt Liu came to take a sit, her face was darker than the night sky. She knew what she had done wrong but it didn't meant she was ready to face the consequences.

Han XiGuang didn't go around the topic and went straight to the problem that brought him to the house, "Rui was under your care in a very good amount of time." A sarcasm that hinted on his words struck a chord like a blade to Aunt Liu's throat.

"I thought I should have noticed but I didn't. But looking back slowly, I do now understood why Rui never wanted to meet you too much," Han XiGuang's knuckles cracked loud enough for Wu SuYi to see droplet of sweats falling from the elder woman's face. "But he is a special boy. A boy who always thought being selfish for his good as a sin. A little soul who thought being silent was the most help he could give to the people around him."

Aunt Liu wanted to speak but Han XiGuang cut her off, "How long have it been that you began abusing him?"

Silent ensued in the room. Aunt Liu couldn't speak and would only hang her head down. But Han XiGuang was no mood to let her spread her fake tears. He needed answer. When he thought of how long he had been kept a fool by his aunt, he couldn't hold himself and slammed his fist to the table, surprising the woman.

"I-I didn't do anything to him! Rui had always been inside my house, but.. but most of the time I never stayed with him!" She defended herself.

"Then how do you know if anything happened to Rui? Why are you so keen on declaring yourself as innocent if you don't know anything?" Wu SuYi questioned, surprising Han XiGuang a little. He saw from the side profile of her beautiful faces deep anger echoing from her eyes.

Wu SuYi too was angry to see a person so unashamedly declared they were innocent after abusing a child. When she was younger people had done the same to her, ignoring her existence or ignoring how in truth, she was in a deep pain. All they cared was to keep themselves a perfect image in front of others, concealing their true ugly hearts.

It made her more furious thinking how Rui had to suffer what she felt.

"You are not in place to talk to me like this!" Aunt Liu pointed her finger toward Wu SuYi but when Han XiGuang glared at her, she weakly pulled her fingers down in fear.

"She's a lawyer, she has all the right to ask what she questioned you," warned Han XiGuang. "Answer her if she have question because I will bring you to the prison myself, aunt."

Tapping his finger to the desk, he asked, "How long has it been then?"

Aunt Liu didn't want to answer and he didn't hesitated to drop his threats, "I can choose to do one thing if you remain silent and continue to test my patience. Either I bring you in front of my father and exposed what you did now at this exact second or put you into a jail and spread what you did across the Chongqing or maybe the whole China."

Aunt Liu's face dropped, "No! Xi Guang, I am your aunt! I took care of you as a baby."

"Which why I am greatly disappointed. I thought you would take care of my son the way you took care of me. But you didn't. You made me regret my decision," Han XiGuang's voice dangerously dropped into a chilling tone. "Because you are still a part of the family, I can take down a few of that option, making it lighter more than you deserve. You should thank your star because you will never be as lucky as this ever again after what you did to Rui."

Aunt Liu clenched her fists, "It was never my mistake. There should be a perfection in our family. We could have been perfect. We would if your older brother wasn't such a failure!"

A dark veil fell over Han XiGuang's face at once, "He was never a failure you all make him to be. People have fear. If he couldn't handle the pressure and wish to leave, it was his wish. But indeed, he was a coward. All because people like you in this family had turned him into one."

"No. He was a failure!" Aunt Liu created an ugly smile upon her face, "I remembered how slow he was when he started learning. You have been better when compared to him, making him the second despite the fact he was your older brother. Everything about him was a disgrace. Failing to get a perfect score in school, running away from home, and in the end, he even gotten a nameless woman pregnant and disappeared into a thin air!"

Han XiGuang rose from his seat, ready to attack the woman when Wu SuYi quickly caught hold of his wrist. "Calm down," she reminded him.

To hear his brother being dismissed as a failure was a sore spot for Han XiGuang. He sat down as Aunt Liu scrunched her face in fear, closing her eyes as she thought Han XiGuang would struck her.

"Is that why you had hurt Rui? Is it because Rui is his son?" He asked, still baffled. In fact, Han XiGuang didn't need the woman's reason. But he couldn't accept how Rui had to be wounded simply because he was deemed as a failure's son which was wrong.

"I didn't attacked him. It was his wish," when the woman turned her face, her eyes glint in a twisted amusement, a smile so wretched appeared on her mouth. "Rui said to me he wanted to be a son you would be proud of. So I taught him what I taught to his father. Including punishment if he couldn't comply to the syllabus I given him. It wasn't a way to hurt him or attack him. This is a chance for him to be a perfect human!"

Wu SuYi who heard this felt a ring on the back of her head, recalling the same words had been thrown to her once in the past.

Before Han XiGuang could do anything, she rushed toward the woman, holding her collar and pulling it harshly. Her eyes had turned red in a seething anger, "You wanted a perfect human? I can show you how."
