Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 - Saved From Destitution

The huge crate full of gold was being dragged behind her, Eloise slowly walked over to her room. Thankfully, the canoes and their room were quite nearby, so it was not a hassled at all.

"Make it fast, tsk, so slow," she glanced back with a satisfying smirk.

"Lady Eloise, this weighs at least a few pounds. It might take a while to even drag it out," Raymond said with a mystifying smile.

"But you were the one who offered help, didn't you hear him as well, Mister Ryan? If not for you I could have dragged in myself Sir, Ray~" Eloise sweetly smiled at him.

Raymond just smiled and nodded. "Well enough, as the lady says," he bowed to her, for which the captain started sweating buckets.

"La—lady Ayles!!! Why don't I carry it, this seems too heavy for such a young lad to carry on his own,"

"shh captain, it's okay, let the kind sire help out. I've never received help from such a handsome lad before. My heart is extremely happy," Eloise turned back and gave him a dazzling smile. "Don't you agree, mister ray? Aren't you elated to help me too?"

"I am ecstatic, Lady...." Raymond whispered with a stunned look. Besides, if not for me, who would help such a beautiful lady? They might be intimidated by your ghastly beauty,"

'Darn he is dissing me for my skin condition again,' Eloise gritted her teeth. "Oh, is it? I'm honoured that you are admiring my unique beauty," she threw her door open. "Now please drag it in,"

"Miss!" Odette ran to her immediately. "Did it work?" she glanced at the huge crate being pulled behind her. "The gods have blessed us. Thank you kind sire, thank you so much for saving us from destitute," she said to the man who was leaning down. He glanced up at her right then and nodded. "Gasp, you.... you are the sire.." she threw a suspicious glance Eloise's way. "Miss!!"

"What? Why are creating a racket?" Eloise mumbled, scratching her ear. Her maid ran over to her and pulled her to an inaudible corner.

"Miss, why did you bring him here? What if the madam sees him!!" Odette panicky whispered.

"oy, why are you panicking now, he is not a monster but a man. What's there to worried about?" she shrugged nonchalantly and went over to her room. "Sire ray, can you help me arrange it in my room?"

"Gladly," Raymond smirked at her. 'She is directly leading me to her room... tsk, so promiscuous,' he laughed silently and dragged the crate to that room.

"What is that wretched sound? Elise darling, what's going on," Millen Ayles ran over to her daughter. Seeing that she was wearing that riding outfit again, she frowned. "Why are in a shirt again?"

"Mum, I had some hard labour to do, and an extravagant dress is not cut out for it," she said hugging her soft mum.

Suddenly madam Ayles started sobbing. "Oh my baby darling, why do you have to suffer like this? It's all my fault, now my delicate little Eloise has to do hard labour to make a living. Darling, are you watching us from heavens, please give us a way to live," she wailed loudly.

"Mum, it's not like that at all. I didn't mean hard labour as in labour, I just had a work to do.... mum don't cry okay. It's my fault; I will not wear riding outfits anymore, I'll dress only in dresses." She cupped her mother's small face. "Don't cry please, you just got better, don't ruin your health again."

"Yes, Lady Ayles, you should take good care of yourself." Raymond whispered from near the doorframe.

Millen Ayles immediately wiped her tears away. "Eloise dear, you didn't mention that we were having guests," She slapped her shoulder playfully. "Sorry for portraying such disgraceful behaviour," she bowed a little.

"You didn't let me mum and the hard labour I was talking about is in my room. Come and see," she gently held her mother's hand and led her to her room. The huge crate of gold was innocently placed in the corner near her chamber pot. 'That darn thing,' she ran closer and hit it behind her bed. 'Did he see it?' she threw a glance his way to find him smirking knowingly. 'He definitely saw.... this is fucking embarrassing,'

"Our.... our gold!! How is it...." her mother stuttered in shock.

"Well, our ship sinking was a ploy by the men to steal our wealth," Eloise slowly explained.

Millen Ayles immediately turned to the two men in the room. "Thank you kind sirs, thank you so much for saving us from destitute... I was.. I was so worried for my dear Eloise's marriage."

Eloise's eyebrows twitched. 'Mommy, it was me who did all the hard work ah, praise me!'
