Chapter 27 - Chapter 27 - Saving Odette

Eloise dashed into the right hall. Odette had once said that the servant's quarters were assigned not far from their room. It was so that the servants and maids can rush to them when they needed help. Even their Ayles family had brought about twenty maids with them along their journey, Odette was her personal maid and her mother did not have one, so Odette covered both their duties.

Just thinking about Odette in danger bought a weird chill down her spine. 'You better be okay, Odette. You should be..." she hastened and ran though the passageway which was on the side of the boat.

'I should not look. I shouldn't look..' but her eyes wandered over to the dark ominous ship next to them. Few pirates were swinging around on the rope and jumping on board their ship. Another one landed right behind her, but thankfully he rushed the other direction she went.

Without looking back, she ran tightly gripping the dagger in her hand.

"ayoy! A beauty!!" a pirate screamed, glancing directly at her from the other ship. He was dressed completely different than that of the others.

His shirt was clearly made up of costlier silk fabric with patched of other colors sewn on his knee pads. And the most prominent one was the amount of jewellery he was wearing. The designer gold chain hung around his neck, the golden watch shimmered in the moon light. The small tassel earring dangled around with each of his moves.

Eloise's breath hitched. 'Shit I've been spotted.' She dashed into the right corridor and ran away from his sight. Soon she reached the moderately decorated hallway. The wall paper was slightly torn and dull and even the candles were not lit up.

She slowly walked in with the dagger right in front of her. 'If I knew I was going to face this kind of situation in my afterlife I would have definitely learned how to use a dagger,' she mentally whispered as she glanced at the tightly packed doors on either side.

Odette had also mentioned that her shared room was second to the last. So Eloise did not check the other sand directly went over to that door.

It was firmly closed. Eloise placed her head on the door and listened to the sounds inside. She could vaguely make out some weird sound. Like huffing...

'Odette, is she locked up inside. Or is someone else inside. Should I knock or should I just break the door?'

While she was contemplating this, a blood curdling scream came from inside the door.

"Shit!" Eloise kicked the flimsy wood door and dashed inside. A few young girls were huddled up in a corner while a big scary man muffled Odette's mouth.

"Aye matey, we found a young beauty. She will go for a pretty pound." the man glanced at her and laughed out loud. "Come here lassie; let me keep you safe from those big bad pirates'." He stepped closer to her, with Odette still in his grasp.

Eloise bit her lips. 'I can't fight close combat with him. Our body sizes put me at a disadvantage. But of it how my only knife at him I would end up being empty-handed.' She subtly glanced around. The room was relatively empty, with three beds close together. There was nothing she could use as a weapon here.

"Let go of her." she held out her dagger.

The man glanced at her, then at her dagger, and laughed out loud. "Oh me lass, that's the funniest thing I've ever heard,"

Eloise moved back as he stepped closer to her. Suddenly, her legs hit something. She glanced down. It was an actual chamber pot, and it was slightly heavier than usual. 'good... I've found my weapon now. But.... sorry Odette, you might have to take a long bath after this,'

"Okay, I'm giving up. Can you let go of her? Here, I'm putting away my dagger." she placed her dagger inside its sheath.

The man laughed again. "Good, lass, you have a pretty good head on your neck. But the other here, tsk, if you don't stop crying you might end up as pig feed." he glared at the little maids huddled in the corner.

Taking this chance, Eloise leaned down and picked up the heavy chamber pot. "Hey bozo, look here," she opened it and threw its content on his face.

"Agh, what is this. Stinky, stinky," he tossed Odette away and wiped his face vigorously.

"Close the door after!!!" she shouted, and dragged Odette out of the room.

"Miss.. miss..." the little maid cried.

"It's not the time to cry, my dear Odette. Now we have to run." she glanced back at the burly man stumbled after them. "Because our life depends on it."

"Fucking lass, you poured shit on me!! get back here," he shouted loudly as he chased after them.

Eloise glanced back and shouted, "Close the door!!"

One of the servants inside banged the door close.

Eloise smirked at this. 'The plan is working. We just have to run back to our room and...."

Just as they turned the corner, another pirate stood in their way. It was the same guy that she saw on the other ship. "oy white haired lass. Come here. Don't even try running," he smirked at her.

Eloise stood hugging Odette close. 'What to do...' she looked around. There was a small rope tied around that man's waist. She then glanced back to find the burly man panting.

'This is it.' she pushed Odette to the wall and charged at the man with her dagger.

"oi oi, that is not going to work against me." he grabbed her hand easily. "This puny dagger can't do anything to me,"

Eloise glared at him with a small smile on her face. With her other hand, she swiftly tied the robe around the man's waist onto the small wooden beam of the ship. "Who said I was trying to stab you?"

She pulled away, and he tried to follow, but something was pulling him back. He glanced down to find himself tied up against something.

Eloise pulled poor Odette off the floor and ran before the other man could catch up. "Little girl, it's time to use up all your energy." She whispered, pulling the panting Odette behind her.

But as she was reaching her corridor, someone jumped down in front of her. "God, you are a slimy fish to catch."

"How... how?" Eloise stuttered.

"I have sharp knifes too," he smirked devilishly with a huge axe in his hand.

She glanced back again to find the burly man had already caught up to them.

They were completely trapped.
