Chapter 7 - Staring game

When the two boys locked eyes, Liam had expected Oliver to look away first, but surprisingly, the boy didn't.

He stared intensely at him which made Liam a bit uncomfortable. He was usually the intimidating guy. In a group of Alphas, Betas and Omegas, he always considered himself to be an Alpha.

He was the one who made other people look away so Oliver should look away!

But the boy still didn't.

Oliver Sallow continued to look at him with a blank facial expression. He didn't know what the boy was thinking, staring at him like that. The previous day, Oliver gave off the impression that he was shy and anti-social. He didn't even directly look at his face when Liam was giving him a tour guide, neither did he want to change in front of him. But all of a sudden, he could maintain eye contact?

Liam could feel himself getting angry. He was sometimes VERY competitive and he didn't like the thought that he was going to fail this time. He was the one standing in front of the class like an idiot so he had to move but he couldn't bring himself to lose in this game.

"Liam!" Sophie called excitedly, causing him to lose the staring game and finally break eye contact. When his eyes went to Oliver's direction again, the boy was wearing an airpod while looking at a book in his hand.

"Guess what?" Sophie began to ramble but he wasn't paying much attention to her.

"..... 300 new followers who thinks you are hot! If I charge 10 dollars each to send your phone number to them, I'll be rich soon!" She squealed excitedly.

Liam knew she wouldn't do that but he didn't hesitate to glare at her and warn her against the idea. Maybe he should get a girlfriend? He was sure this whole thing was going to reduce significantly and he was going to get enough breathing space if he did.

"What are you thinking about? You want me to sell your number to them? I'll give you half of whatever I get—"

"No!" He shot down the idea immediately. "I'll kill you if you do that." He threatened.

When Sophie returned to her seat, he looked at Oliver's direction again and saw him reading a book which looked like a novel, with his airpod on his ear. He could see the frustrated look on Oliver's seat mate's face. Poor girl. It was obvious she was never going to succeed at getting his attention.

"Do you feel threatened?"

He was snapped back to his senses, and looked at Harry who smiled at him before turning his gaze to Oliver's direction. He didn't know when Harry arrived.

"What?" He raised a questioning brow.

"The new kid. He seems to be getting a lot of attention. Do you feel threatened because your position is at stake?" Harry teased.

Liam scoffed. "Who cares about that?" He asked rhetorically before he turned to look ahead.

"You should. He is gradually pushing you out of your spot. Have you noticed the ladies are paying less attention to you now? He is like the mystery that everyone is trying to unravel. No one knows anything about him except his name and you know those kind of secrecy naturally attracts people, don't you think so too?"

Liam wished he could just shut up. Keeping his 'spot' wasn't his priority right now.

"I have an idea. We should make him join our circle. That way, we are still the hottest circle in this school. Hell! In this town! We should make him join by all means."

"I totally agree to that!" Sophie chipped in from the aside. "We should get him to join us before one of those–"

"No." Liam refused to budge.

"Why?"

Sophie and Harry asked at the same time. Liam seemed to have changed a lot lately. Was it maturity?

Liam pondered on their question. Why didn't he want Oliver in their circle?

The answer was simple.

He didn't like the boy.

And the funny part was, he didn't know why he didn't like him. But there should be a reason right?

Thankfully, their teacher entered inside the classroom at that moment and saved him from giving them an answer.

"I'll still try to woo him to us." Sophie whispered before adjusting in her seat.
