A monotonous beeping heard from beside her, the steady rhythm droned on. The medical machines a constant reminder of Aribelle's worsening condition, their company faded in amongst the voices in the hallway and the sound of a television playing in a nearby room. Attempting to distract herself with the book that was spread out in front of her, Aribelle turned over another page languidly. However, it was only denial that could possibly allow her to escape from the white walls and the overwhelming smell of sanitation chemicals that surrounded her.
