Chapter 2: Emily is a princess... Maybe

I saw the Alpha nod to Mateo and he handed me over to my mother.

"I guess you will get your wish, Alpha Noah. My daughter and I will be leaving the pack for good. Goodbye!"

My mother turned around with me in her arms and she started walking towards the place she parked the car.

"No! Emily!"

I heard Owen's voice as he ran after us. He tried to take me from my mother's arms. I ignored the pain that was hacking me apart and I grabbed his shirt.

"You are dead to me, Owen. You are freaking d-e-a-d"

I grabbed the lion's tooth on his neck, it was a gift I gave to him on his seventh birthday. I wrapped my hand around the rope that was holding it and I pulled until the rope snapped from his neck. He froze. The son of a tooth, wasn't expecting it.

Was he expecting me to make him a pancake for breaking my freaking heart the same day he told me he was in love with me?

Fool!

"Put me down, Mom"

"Are you sure you can walk?" My mother asked me.

"Yes"

She placed me gently on the ground and I stared at Owen, my heart breaking further into a million pieces.

After a minute of staring at him,I tried to leave but I felt his arm pulling me back. What was he doing?

Wait! Was he trying to…to kiss me?

I wanted to resist, punch him or bite his lips off but I didn't. I just let him kiss me.

I have no reason for letting him do that, maybe I am weak, pathetic or both but I didn't resist Owen's mouth on mine. It didn't take me long to figure out that he was crying too.

Are you in pain, Wuss? I wanted to yell at him. Good!

I wanted to tell him that I hope he dies a horrible death at the hands of a thousand buffoons but I didn't. I simply let the kiss linger.

The kiss overwhelmed me, even my pain was reduced. My senses were temporarily limited as I tasted his peppermint saliva. Before I could object (like I was supposed to) his hand found the hair band on my hair and he pulled it out. My midnight black hair fell all over my body.

I summoned all the strength in me and I pushed. The push was enough to make him stagger.

Another fresh batch of tears emerged when I saw his face, I turned to my mother and whispered.

"Let's go, Mom"

"Emily, don't leave. You are my best friend!" Owen grabbed my hand. "I am so sorry, Emily girl"

I turned around and I punched him right in the nose. He didn't try to defend himself and I ended up drawing blood.

If we weren't planning on leaving the pack I would have been punished, severely.

I watched his tear stained face. what an annoying wuss? sixteen years of friendship down the drain just like that.

I felt the quivering of my breath and the early onset of another round of pain. I blinked and exhaled. I am Emily Sanders, I will have the last word.

"Go to hell, Owen!"

I watched as he turned into his wolf form and he ran.

"Eloise, you won't survive long out there without a pack's link" Luna told my mother.

My mother didn't say a word to them. We turned around and I ignored the pain I was feeling as I said goodbye to the only home I knew, in the same breath I prayed to the moon goddess for a better life in my father's kingdom.

My mother made me lie on the back of the Van. I shivered and I yelled a couple of times.

I prayed and cussed for the pain to stop. The further we were from the pack the more painful my whole body was.

I didn't just lose a mate, I lost my only friend.

We stopped at a pharmacy and mom bought some pain medication. It didn't do Jack, only made my mouth more bitter.

Then I stop screaming or wriggling or any other thing to express my pain.

I just sat at the back of the old rickety van and stared at nothing. The only sign that I was in pain was the sweat that tripped down and soaked my clothes.

"Emily, are you still breathing?" My mother called out to me because of the sudden quietness.

"I am fine. I just want to sleep" I whispered to her.

We drove for two days straight only taking breaks to pee, refuel or eat. The first day was hell on earth for me but the second day, not so much. I adjusted to the pain and even welcomed it.

When we finally got to Castaway island country, mom was ecstatic. I was nervous. Showing up on the doorstep of my father after seventeen would make any teenager nervous, especially one with a recent loss.

We stopped twice to ask for directions to the palace.

The second stranger was more straightforward with us.

"Why do you want to pay the devil a visit?" The stranger had asked my mother.

"The devil?" Mom sounded confused.

"King Zuri, the devil of Castaway…are you sure? Anyway keep going straight and take the next turn by the right. The palace is hard to miss. It's a big gigantic beautiful building guarded by wicked soldiers. Good luck!"

I watched as the stranger scurried off with the basket she was carrying. It also gave me time to take in the view.

It was breathtaking. When mom drove up to the high fenced gate, it was too difficult to imagine someone other than an angel occupying the throne.

I sat upright as a soldier in a brown uniform and red beret approached our van. He had a nasty scar across his face that made him almost as terrifying as Alpha Noah in his happy state.

"I am going to need you to turn around and leave" he spoke harshly to mom without asking questions.
