Chapter 9 - First time of being outside for a year

"Wow." I touch my face. "You're good with this."

I wouldn't have known she made me up had it not been for the fairness and smoothness of my skin.

"I told you so, didn't I? You're stunning."

"Thanks." I smile at her.

"Let's get this all done, we don't have much time to waste." She points to the suit. "Go put it on, wear your shoes and do whatever it is you need, I'll be inside the bathroom."

"Why are you going into my bathroom?" I frown at her, "don't tell me you're going to take a bath."

"I'll wash my hands, silly. Don't tell me you expect me to walk out here with my hands dirty?" She rolled her eyes at me.

"Go on then." I wave her off before I turn to the beautiful suit she made for me.

Taking the suit up as gingerly as I can, I wore the suit. Taking great pain in making sure I don't rumple it, or anything like that.

It won't be okay should I rumple these fine suits before the party.

Putting on the black shoes she got for me, I stood from the bed, and walk towards the mirror.

"Blimey! You Know I didn't recognize you right now?" Marli gives me an appreciative glance, "You look different compared to your normal self. Should your husband get to see you now, he'll undoubtedly fall for his beautiful wife on make-up." She whispers with a smile.

"Shut up." I frown at her, "should he care about that, he wouldn't have been acting so cold towards me."

He wouldn't have ignored me as if I'm some sort of sculpture given to him to do as he so, please.

"I'm not lying at all, Lee. You look more handsome than you were. Sly will undoubtedly fell head over hills for you."

"That's his cup of tea. If he wants to fall, he can go ahead and do that.

But seriously speaking, should you mention his name once more, I'm no longer going."

The more I hear his name right now, the more guilty I feel about everything. I feel like I am betraying him and the trust he has in me.

It feels as if I'm dashing his trust to pieces just by doing what it is I am doing.

"Don't tell me you're already feeling guilty about this?"

"I am. I don't know why, but it feels I am betraying him."

"Don't feel like that, love." She gently pats me on the back, a sad smile on her face before the smile turned into a full-blown one. " Let's go before the party starts." She starts leading me to the door.

"What of the mask?" I look at her in question, "don't tell me you've already forgotten about it?"

"No, I've not. Don't worry about the mask, I'll give it to you when we're out of the property." She pats the pocket of her clothes," it's in there, waiting for the right moment to make an appearance."

The way she's talking about the mask, you'll think it's a fantasy object and not a mere mask.

" Let's go." Pushing her towards the door, "I think it's time to get the party on the road."

*

"Don't make any sound. Stay here while I go Scott the back gate." Marli whispers, "do you understand?"

"I do," I whisper back, my voice far lighter than hers.

"I'll be right back." With those words said, she slipped out of the rosebed we both hid behind.

Initially, we decided to make use of the front gate, but it seems Sly put more security there as there are more guards at the gate compared to those we normally have there.

Looking out through the rose bed, I can make out more than fifteen guards patrolling the gate. Their entire focus was on the house they were asked to guard.

Looking at them made me scoff.

They're guarding a house that's currently empty and devoid of anyone. Should Marli return after helping me enter a cab, then there'll be someone in there for them to protect, instead of the empty house, they're guarding.

"Let's go," Marli whispers.

"Is the coast clear there?" I whisper back, looking behind us, I made to check if there's any guard around.

"Luckily for us, the guards stupidly all went to the front gate to guard it. There's currently no one there, and we need to hurry before any of them returns." Motioning for me to follow her, she returns to where she came from.

Looking around to make sure we're not being followed, I slowly walk behind her, trying not to get my clothes dirty, and also not to get caught.

Should the guards catch me, I don't think There's any excuse for why I am putting on a suit at night.

Just like Marli said, there are no guards here. The entire place is empty, and devoid of any humans.

"Let's go then." Unlocking the small gate like a pro, she motions for me to go out first. "Should they happen to be here now, I'll be the one they catch, and not you."

I walk out of the small gate.

My first time being out of the Mansion since I got married to Sly.

This is my first time in a year to breathe in the air outside the mansion.

"Let's go." Locking the gate, Marli took my hand in hers and started tugging me to round the enormous property of the mansion.

"Why are we going through the right and not the left?" I frown at her.

"The CCTV at the side of the gate might capture us if we walk past it. Prevention, they say, is better than cure."

" I get it now." Rolling my eyes at her, I allow her to lead me until we came to a stop at what seemed like a bus stop.

"What next?" I clean the iron bench and sat on it.

"We wait for a cab." She gives my sitting arse a scorching glare. "Don't you dare dirty that suit?" She scolds like a mother scolding a petulant child.

"I won't do so, mummy."
