Chapter 37 - CH. 37: Only To Watch Over

The time that passed went unnoticed by Heather as she answered the test papers one after another.

The teachers were even mesmerized at the way she looks while answering.

Not once did her brows furrowed and showed that she was having difficulty in answering.

These four may be among the top but they were all humble enough not to look down on her whether she gets high or low score.

At the same time, they respect Alexander, even though it was only one of them who knew the suppose news about the Relish family, since he still asked, they will see through her capabilities properly.

After three hours, Heather was done with all the four test papers.

She happily scanned it right in front of them and sent it back to the emails they used.

"We'll inform you on Monday," the woman said after they each receive the email.

"Thank you very much," Heather replied.

Soon the video call ended and she weakly leaned back on her chair.

It may seem as if she wasn't having a hard time but boy her brain worked more than how much it worked over the past year.

She was in full concentration mode that she couldn't really hear anything.

All of her attention was on the papers right in front of her, even her energy were all spent on them. Now she was very very tired.

'Well, I did my best, I hope I have done enough,' she though before standing up.

Her stomach was once again making some noises and she felt like eating soem chocolate.

When your mind is tired then chocolate is a good food to energize it.

Upon opening the door from the study, the smell of food instantly penetrated her nose. SHe was already in the third floor but she can already smell the fragrant flavor of what was prepared.

With a grin she rushed to the stairs, looking down from where she was,s eh suddenly felt dizzy.

She shook her head and leaned on the railings.

'This is getting frequent,' she thought while rubbing her eyes.

Looking down made her feel sick or dizzy but once she just looked at her feet or ahead, she will be fine.

"I must be trying too hard in my studies."

With that, she simply looked ahead while walking down the stairs until she reached the first floor.

The smell of food became stronger that she had completely thrown the matter out of her mind.

Walking over she even saw a bar of swiss chocolate on the table.

"This is..."

She looked up at Ravier, who was already standing there.

"Ever since the young madam has started studying, we knew you would need food for the mind. Knowing that you just took an exam, we have already prepared it for you to recover. The food will be served shortly, please enjoy this first."

Heather smiled widely, "Thank you so much."

It has been so long since she was served like this.

After she left home at thirteen, she stopepd having servants that she do things on her own. Even through the years of her marriage, Amelia was all alone that she was focused on other house hold chores, Heather still do things on her own.

Now, she didn't even need to ask, they were already prepared.

Ravier smiled back, "It is our pleasure."

Heather sat down and waited for Amelia to serve the food while she tinkered at her new phone.

After some thought, she wondered why she even tried to hide the fact that she has a new phone. If it were to be seen, doesn't that mean that she really was hiding something by having a secret phone?

As long as she is careful enough then even if she had her families number saved, no one will know.

She can also change their names in order to hide but she had forgotten that Wesley was among the top programmers.

And she asked him to help in her security in the phone and laptop.

In the end, she actually got so paranoid that she had forgotten. Suppose the sudden turn of events were still too shocking for her.

She really needed to fix her mind set. Sometimes she was aware, sometimes she wasn't.

'That's right, I have to contact that person,' she thought after chancing upon the name '...' on her phone.

This name was placed by her even before she married Cyrus.

A help of some sort but does not need to do so many things, only to watch over.

She actually forgot about this person as years passed by until she had that dream about her family weeks ago.

In that first life, there was not only ehr family who stood in front of her grave. There was also one other person.

The person she had entrusted with her past.

"Food for our student," Amelia joked while Heather was thinking about this.

Heather laughed and took up her utensils, "I will gladly accept this wonderful food and keep on studying hard."

Meanwhile, Alexander was contacted by one of Heather's supposed teachers.

"I accepted your request since it was you but I guess I have the right to ask now, am I right?"

Alexander chuckled, "How was the exam first?"

The one he was speaking to is Clark Xanders, among the top scientists in the study of Mycology.

A charismatic handsome mycologist, one of the sought after bachelors who are of the same age as Alexander.

The study of Mycology being the branch of biology concerned with the study of fungi, including their genetic and biochemical properties, their taxonomy and their use to human.

One of the things that Heather wanted to study was this, about Fungi.

Fungi cause disease directly by infection or indirectly through mycotoxins.

Fungi that are used as weapons might be targeted against humans, livestock, or crops.

Humans and animals encounter fungi and mycotoxins through inhalation, ingestion, and contact with skin and mucous membranes.

Effective fungal bioweapons would require the ability to cause significant destruction and a means of delivery to target populations or farms.

Of course, this was the reason she had to study it, in order to study how to use it as an effective weapon.

"I must say..."

Clark shook his head and raised both hands.

Alexander sighed, it seems that Heather didn't do good in this particular subject.

"You should have introduced her earlier."

Alexander raised an eyebrow, "Are you saying..."

He saw Clark laugh after seeing him being excited about Heather's results.

"Her exam was perfect, they are all knowledge about Mycology but they weren't the basic knowledge, yet she was able to answer so well. I really am amazed."

Alexander couldn't help but laugh, "My sister is seriously one of a kind. Who would have thought she was really knowledgeable about this. We all thought it was another whim of hers."

Clark laughed.

Among the teachers Alexander found, Clark was the closest to him as he was among his friends.

Being people who was thirsty of knowledge not just on their particular fields, the two of them learned from one another from time to time.

Especially when Alexander exncounters cases about fungal infection. Clark was the one he asks for help.

"I see that all the news were but lies," later on Clark commented.

Alexander was not planning on hiding it from him since Heather came to him for help. He knew Clark could keep his mouth shut about this matter.

"Though I should have known since you asked for me to help her, not another person," he added.

"Don't inflate your ego, I asked you because it was your field."

"Yeah but isn't it that you also have others to ask? But not as tight lipped as I am?" Clark rebuked.

"Whatever."

He chuckled, "I won't ask why her not being disowned is still being kept a secret but can I wonder why she suddenly wanted to study this? She seemed quite knowledgeable as well."

"I don't know," Alexander honestly replied.

"You really dote on her too much," Clark shook his head in helplessness.

"It has been a decade since we were able to do it, she was no longer young but we still want the best for her. So whatever she wishes? We wouldn't think twice in complying."

"Seeing as you really are happy, I have nothing more to say. But are you sure you wish me to teach her?"

Clark's tone has a different tone in it.

"She's married," he flatly replied.

Clark was someone who would instantly be attracted to someone on the same field as him, especially if that someone is a good one.

"It doesn't seem like it was a happy marriage though."

"Maybe but she chose to stay."

Clark pursed his lips hearing the coldness in Alexander's tone.

"Whether she stays or not, as long as it is her choice we will respect it. Don't try anything funny," Alexander told him seriously.

Clark raised both hands for the second time.

"Fine, I get it. I won't do anything. I'll just teach her properly."

Alexander nodded his head, "Anyway, I have another patient who was showing signs of..."

Clark knew that Alexander was over with that topic.

Heather passed and he will teach her and that's it, Alexander won't entertain any more question.

'Such a doting brother you are,' Clark thought with a shake of his head.
